American Gods
I found it quite, err..., challenging to spend so many pages on a trip through the less inspiring parts of the US, in winter, with the main character of this book, especially when the plot is really a bit loose and rambling for most of those pages. As Shadow's own wife says, he has a certain depressing emptiness about him. On the other hand I really, really liked the little stories of the Old World immigrants to the New World inserted here and there.
